What is the best way to get rid of ants in a shower?

I have one bathroom. I woke up one morning about a week ago to about 7 or eight little black ants snooping around my shower. I smooched them all. And since I have been washing it with soap and a washcloth at the end of every shower, drying it COMPLETLEY, and running my sleeping fan in there during the day for better ventilation. Once dry, I've been sprinkling boric acid all over the shower, and along the crevices of the floors. I live in a rental, and its pretty old. There are some cracks in the caulking running up along where the shower meets the wall, and other places they could be coming in. I've doused those areas as well. However, MOST of the ants that accumulate when I come home are always sitting (dead) in the bottom of the boric acid sprinkled shower. That leads me to believe that they are maybe coming in through the drain or something? Well, those persistent little things still aren't quitting and I'm wanting to kill this problem fast!!! I currently am being controlled by these things, and taking twice as long in the AM to make sure I don't leave the bathroom untreated. I REALLY NEED HELP! I know people say to use the ant baits but I feel like that would be pointless seeing they would just be dispersed and ruin their trails back to their nests when I shower in the morning and The baits would just introduce more as a result. Thanks guys for all your help!

Answer:

We highly suggest you read over our detailed article called "How to Get Rid of Ants". This gives a detailed breakdown of what steps to take for treating whether using baits or sprays and where to look for nesting sites. The baits in our Complete Ant Kit really are the best option as you will not put them IN the shower, but near and around the shower for them to go to. They are looking for food and water so just because you see them IN the shower when you find them, doesn't mean they wont leave it to get to a food source. The ants cannot eat the bait in the form its in so they take it back to the colony to be broken down first, and then dispersed to the queen and workers to eliminate the entire colony at its source. This does take time but its the most complete way of getting rid of them.
