We have gravel beds around the pool instead of mulch and these ants seem to be nesting in the gravel. I've also found a few nests in mulch beds but they seem to like the gravel better.
We would recommend to use the Intice Border Patrol System. InTice Border Patrol System is a handy plastic bait station from Rockwell Labs Limited that is used to easily let pests in.
