Sara from Colfax writes

What ratio of water to product do I use to kill tea scale on camellias and what time of year is best to spray?

Answer:

Per your local cooperative extension office, they would highly recommend treating the camellias with a combination of horticultural oil (for a foliar application treating the undersides of the leaves) and a systemic control product that contains the active ingredient, Imidacloprid as a soil drench at the base to treat tea scale. For timing and specific application times in the year, we recommend contacting the Master Gardener in your county.
