Joey from Sandy, Oregon writes

What should I spray on my fruit trees for beetles?

They are covering my apple trees and a few others with tons of 1/4 inch holes that look like woodpecker holes. I cut a pine tree down and it had many white larvae in it, looked like beetle larvae. They were deep into the wood, from tiny little things to almost 2 inches long. I think they are the same pest, a wood beetle. Any way to kill them? I can avoid eating the fruit for a year or two if I have to.

Answer:

We are not exactly sure which beetle you are treating for, please contact your local cooperative extension office for a free pest identification first. We carry many products including those that are safe for fruit trees. We would be happy to help you select a product that will fit your specific needs if we know what insect to target.
