Will Bayer Advanced 12 Month TRee & Shrub protect Sago Palms from a white scale infestation?

This problem is prevelant in Fl..

Answer:

Imidacloprid (the active ingredient in this product) may have some effect on the scales but the Cycad scales the generally infest Sago Palms are known to be quite resistant to the active ingredient. Cycad scales really require a suffocant and a different systemic insecticide to be successfully controlled. We recommend that you treat the foliage with a quick working horticultural oil and then use a product containing dinotefuran such as Safari as a soil drench that will be translocated through the plant.
